      Place of birth EITHER Goochland County, Virgian OR Spartanburg, SC. By 1793 (date of 1st marriage), he was in Spartanburg, SC, but his father, Joseph was still in Goochland County in 1770 (See his deeds). So sometime between 1770 and 1793, either his family or he moved to Spartanburg, SC

      (and wife Sarah) conveyed "that portion lying on the south side of
      Fairforest to Richard Barnett in this deed it is spoken of as a partof
      the plantation of .............. In 1796 John Thomas Jr. ofGreenville
      County conveyed to Joseph Wofford all that plantation situated in
      Spartanburg County on both sides of Fairforest Creek containing 250acres
      including the plantation whereon the said John Thomas formerly lived.In
      presence of H. McCravy and Micajah Barnett [needs to be reread] In1800
      Richard Barnette sold to William Lancaster.

      1807: Richard Barnett of Spartanburg to John Cook for $300 sold 120acres
      on waters of Fairforest Creek. Borders Smith. Where Richard Barnett

      Joroyal and Sister Agnes and Thomas Barnett have letters ofdismission.
      Agreed that Bro Richard & Sister Susannah Barnett have letters of
      dismission. [could this be when they moved to Giles County,Tennessee?]
      1812. There was a "John Barnet", "Richard Barnet", and "WilliamBarnett"
      listed in the 1812 Giles Co., TN tax list.
